This product is in every way totally unusable. The winding is not tight, not bonded. The wiper mechanism is faulty. It simply cannot be used!

You get what you pay for. Knob won't stay on and when tightened super hard, dial turns rough almost sounds like its scraping. It may work on some applications but for my classic car that I needed a 12v light controlled, it do not perform well. I returned the item and went another direction.

Firstly, the ceramic used is not very good and has cracks already developed.The wiper arm that holds the brush does not hold the brush well, so it feels drastically different sweeping CCW vs CW.Most importantly, the provided knob DOES NOT FIT. The shaft on the Rheostat has a crudely milled flat spot for the set screw, which would be great IF the knob were deep enough that the set screw could even get to this flat spot. In order to use this, we are going to have to use a rotary tool to grind the flat spot our more so the knob can fit. Certainly not something an end user should be expected to do.Oh, and there is epoxy on the lugs to solder too. Which means soldering will be much more troublesome than it should be.Honestly, it is worth it to pay more for a nicer Rheostat if you can find one. We certainly wish we had.Our opinion would be different if the knob provided at least fit. Having to alter the shaft more than negates the cost differential of a nicer unit.-2 stars for fitment issues. -1 for quality issues.

First thing is on me, I dropped the knob, but it shattered into pieces.I connected it to the hot side of a twin fan to regulate the speed. It causes the fans to surge and run very irradically.
