I ordered this unit to control my Sony FS7M2 camera's.You get a great unit for it's price and I really like to have separate control knobs for focus, iris and ND control. The menu and navigation buttons did not work out of the box so I wrote their support who promptly sent me a newer firmware which solved this problem. You can even daisy chain several controllers.I connected the handgrip to the remote input and then the commands are relayed to the selected camera, this also works with the wireless receiver from a 2nd controller.

This camcorder controller is a versatile and budget-friendly alternative to the Sony RM-30BP, designed for professional Sony camcorder users. Its solid build quality and intuitive button layout make it easy to use, though the buttons are slightly smaller than those on Sony’s original remote, which may be less comfortable for users with gloves or in fast-paced environments. The dual connectivity (wired for zero-lag precision and wireless for remote operation) adds flexibility, but wireless mode introduces minor latency, particularly in focus and IRIS adjustments. This makes wired mode the preferred choice for professional settings where absolute precision is required. In terms of functionality, this camcorder controller remote supports smooth zoom control, manual focus, IRIS adjustments, and ND filter changes, covering the essential features needed for professional video production. While the zoom speed transitions are generally good, they are not as seamless as Sony’s RM-30BP, which may be a dealbreaker for users who require highly precise zoom movements. The battery life in wireless mode is decent (15-20 hours), but it relies on AAA batteries instead of a rechargeable option, adding to operational costs over time. Despite these drawbacks, the broad compatibility with Sony camcorders, especially the FX, NX, and HVR series, makes it a practical choice for most videographers. Overall, this remote is an excellent value for filmmakers, documentary shooters, and event videographers looking for a feature-rich, affordable alternative to Sony’s official remote. While it may not match the high-end precision and seamless performance of Sony’s RM-30BP, it delivers reliable performance at a fraction of the cost. Users who need lag-free, highly responsive controls should stick to wired mode, while those needing wireless flexibility for gimbal or crane setups may find the minor latency acceptable. For its price, it’s one of the best third-party LANC controllers available, making it a smart buy for most videographers; but not for high-end professionals demanding absolute perfection.

The Aodelan wireless and wired controller for Sony camcorders is a fantastic accessory for any videographer. The remote zoom control is smooth and precise, and the wireless functionality gives me the freedom to move around while shooting. The build quality is solid, and the battery life is impressive. I was hesitant about this at first. When it comes to my cameras and equipment, I prefer to stick with OEM. However, every so often a company comes along and just seems to get it right and AODELAN has done that here. Price? Fantastic. Ease of use, simply, great. There's little this doesn't give you control over. I haven't used it wired, but wireless setup was quick and to the point. I really wish I could find a negative here, it's just a win of tool all around.

As the description states, "Replaces the Sony RM-30BP". It's not often that I can say a non-OEM version is better than the OEM version, but in this case, it's absolutely the case.Let's start out by looking at price. You can pick up the Sony RM-30BP for just over $900. Yes, that's right. Over $900. So just starting out, this is 1/4 the price of the Sony RM-30BP.But if you think price is the only thing that makes this better, you would be sorely mistaken. Because this not only does everything the Sony RM-30BP does, this actually does it BETTER by making several improvements.First, there's the obvious display. The RM-30BP has no display. At all. This does, and it provides some useful information. But it doesn't stop there. The RM-30BP has a single dial for Iris (aperture), ND (exposure) and focus, and you have to first select the camera, then the option you which to change, then rotate the dial accordingly. With this, you just hit the camera button and spin the appropriate dial. This sounds very minor on paper but becomes a really nice feature in real-world use. It's not often I have the opportunity to declare a non-OEM device far superior to the OEM device, but it's absolutely true here. You are far, far better off buying this at 1/4 the savings than the Sony version. It has better features, which is amazing, and sells at a far lower price. If you're a videographer, you know that having backups means everything. At this price, you can buy 2 of them, save 1/2 the money, and have a backup on hand ready to go. Which I highly recommend you do. There is no reason to not rate this 5 stars. I can't recommend it more highly.

Sony video products has always had a control circuitry for operating the device. This feature called LANC, offers a variety of features depending on the device itself. Touching a video or photographic device sometimes can jiggle the recording which is why these LANC controllers are a good idea to change settings while recording. Recommended fort ease usefulness.
