After reading mixed opinions about it, I finally decided to go for this GPS unit to have more accurate data for the alignment of my GoTo.When i first plugged it in, the GPS showed wrong date/time (year 2032..!) and wrong coordinates.After reading several forums, I was told that this GPS unit has an internal battery that needs to be fully charged. I did so by leaving the scope switched on with the GPS attached..nothing.I then asked Celestron for help, and I was told that i need to upgrade the scope firmware woth the GPS attached. I did so few times but the result was still the same.I was already not so convinced by this GPS unit, especially for its price, which i find ridiculously high for a unit that does nothing more that providing few (inaccurate) data.Fortunately, Amazon agreed for a return and I won’t buy this anymore.

Etwas teuer aber die Einstellung der Zeit und Standort sind weg! Ich habe immer gekämpft Sekunden genau der Uhrzeit einzustellen und es schien nie richtig geklappt zu haben. Nicht unbedingt notwendig aber wenn mann es hat will Mann es nicht mehr vermissen!

Well packed, arrived promptly. I plugged it in both ways, to my CGX Mount and directly to the Celestron handset. At first it took a while to find itself and through the handset it once gave me a false readout. Through the mount has been fine and accurate, and all info can be seen on my relevant laptop software. It definitely removed an area of doubt in my calculations and for sure has improved my mounts accuracy.

Very easy and accurate to use. Greatly facilitates the alignment. Never had issues with accuracy.

There has been mixed reviews of this unit mainly in the US, I hooked it up a few nights ago and it gave me the correct location straight away and made setting up of my telescope much easier and quicker.Can't fault it.

I'm giving this max stars. It's an addition I failed to purchase awhile back. But I'll now say your telescope is going to like it and function even better in alignment procedure. Speeds things up and near automatic to use. Gets its power from the aux port.Mine is the compact 4SE and worked great this evening. Sky's were more than hazy. Used an extra wide Meade 40MM eyepiece. Easily handles the larger Deep Sky. Sky so hazy even had difficulty centering the brighter stars in the finder!You have to go to the menu and find GPS, then turn it on! I was so slow fumbling in the dark gave enough minutes for the GPS to acquire satellites. This unit also puts in the correct time, easy to make a mistake here on the first outings.Area for Hercules Cluster wouldn't show due to poor sky's but area for andromeda our nearest neighbor came right in just off center of the low power eyepiece. Sizeable smudge. Polaris refused to show in finder so elected other bright stars on my auto two star alignment.Some areas of the sky did release some nice compact clusters, obvious in the view. Did after alignment check Polaris and shown well now in the eyepiece, but such poor sky conditions refused to show the dim companion fun to see even in a small scope. My Clave failed tho added contrast.Bad night but thanks to the GPS addition life was much easier and for some reason my Celestron behaves better with its use. I strongly suggest you add this one to speed up the alignment process. Likely find things are now a lot easier.
