This spring is so extremely rigid, that no amount of reasonable force applied to it will straighten it out. The result is that, as regards fitting it to any chair, there is, in effect, no way to make it 16". I had to go and fashion my own linkages to fit it to a chair, and now that bulge you see in the picture is pushing up into the cushion. This thing should have been straightened and heat treated before attempting to sell it.If they want to see me happier with their product, the manufacturer could always come to my house and fit it to my chair. I'll offer tea and cookies and words of encouragement. For anyone else I have beer and peanuts and good view of the show. And, no, you're not allowed to laugh at their struggle.

Rebuilt my couch. I told the kids stop jumping on the couch. Well I had to rebuild it, These springs worked perfectly
