I loved the box and was very excited to receive these much-coveted pastels by Sennelier. I was disappointed to discover that the set contained many broken and brittle pastels. I didn't think this would be the case with such an expensive and quality brand. I was also disappointed to find that the box contained almost 90% identical colour codes as theI also bought the Sennelier Assorted Extra Soft Half Pastel 40-Pieces Set. I did not think they would double up on so many colours and it made me wonder why the codes were not offered in the original advertisements. I would have saved myself over $100. Now I have 2 x 30 identical colours (approximately) and around 18 non-duplicated colours... This is after paying over $350 for 2 different box sets totalling 78 pastels. It seems wrong that the codes were not advertised and were not provided for either box until I received them.

Just about every professional artist at some point or another has used or is using Sennelier pastels. These soft pastels are highly pigmented, light fast of course and beautiful to lay down on a variety of pastel papers. Their color range is huge, you can buy sets or single sticks, they are higher in cost mainly due to their artist quality as are many of the leading professional pastel brands but I do find them a bit more economical to purchase than others. This set pf 36 provides a nice set of darks, and mid range. If a person were to add the 24pc landscape set ( which is a set with many mid range values) you would then have great collection to replace sticks as you use them.
